Apple's Smart Home Hub Launch Delayed Due to Siri Development Issues
Recently, Apple made an announcement indicating that the enhanced version of Siri, which was expected to be more personalized, has been delayed. This announcement affects not only Siri but also the launch of Apple's upcoming smart home hub, as reported by Bloomberg's Mark Gurman.
In their statement, Apple acknowledged that the new features for Siri, which are part of a larger initiative known as Apple Intelligence, will require more time to develop than initially anticipated. The company now expects that these upgraded capabilities will be available in the next year.
Mark Gurman highlighted that the smart home hub's release is closely tied to the new functionality of Siri, meaning it too has faced delays. Previously, there were expectations that the device might launch as early as March 2025. This smart home hub is designed to feature a six-inch touchscreen, which can be mounted on walls. It would facilitate video calls and help in managing various smart home devices, primarily through voice commands.
Despite the project setbacks, reports suggest that Apple has initiated an internal testing program. This initiative allows employees to take the smart home hub home for real-world feedback, potentially helping refine the device ahead of its eventual launch.
