Elon Musk Reveals Human-Like Robots at Tesla Event
Are you ready for robots that can do everyday tasks for you and much more?
At a recent Tesla event, Elon Musk introduced the latest advancements in robots that are becoming increasingly human-like. He likened these machines to having your very own personal R2-D2 or C-3PO.
During the event, Musk posed the question, "What can it do?" A video shared on the Tesla website demonstrated the robots’ diverse abilities. According to Musk, the robots can serve many roles: "It can be a teacher, babysit your kids, walk your dog, mow your lawn, get the groceries, or just be your friend and serve drinks."
Showcasing the Optimus Robots
The event, called “We, Robot,” featured Tesla’s Optimus robots performing various tasks. They danced inside a glass enclosure, waved at the audience, and even distributed items to attendees.
In addition to the robots, Musk also introduced Tesla’s upcoming “Cybercabs.” These sleek, AI-driven vehicles will operate without traditional steering wheels or pedals, but they won’t be available until at least 2026.
Future Plans and Costs
Musk did not provide specific timelines for when the Optimus robots will be widely available. However, he mentioned that when they are produced on a larger scale, the price will likely be between $20,000 and $30,000, which is less than the average cost of a car over time.
A video shown during the event highlighted several tasks the robots could handle. It included footage of a robot watering a houseplant, playing games with people, and retrieving groceries from a car trunk, placing them on a kitchen countertop.
Musk expressed excitement about the future of these robots, stating, "It’s going to be awesome. I think this will be the biggest product ever of any kind. Of the 8 billion people on Earth, I believe everyone’s going to want their own Optimus buddy."
