Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses Introduce Real-Time AI and Translation Features

Published December 18, 2024

Meta is set to enhance its Ray-Ban Smart Glasses with two exciting features: real-time visual AI and translation capabilities. While these features are currently in the testing phase, the goal is to make them available to all Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses users.

This update will roll out as part of the v11 update, which was discussed at the Connect 2024 event. Alongside AI features, the update will include Shazam integration for music recognition. With these features, users can benefit from the built-in camera, speakers, and microphones of the glasses, allowing for seamless functionality without needing to pull out a smartphone.

Enhanced Interaction with AI

In previous versions, users needed to activate the voice assistant using a specific wake word, which made communication feel somewhat clunky. To inquire about something while wearing the glasses, users had to say "look and" before their questions, which could feel awkward in conversations.

The new live AI assistant will be more accessible, making it easier to interact and receive quicker responses. This enhancement employs video technology to maintain a continuous visual feed, significantly improving the user experience.

Privacy concerns related to these features have been addressed; users must enable the live AI and translation features in their settings before they can be activated. Additionally, these functionalities can be turned off at any time through the settings or via a voice command.

Early Access and Future Availability

The latest features are initially rolling out to select Early Access users for testing. Based on the feedback received, Meta plans to extend these updates to a broader audience of Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses owners within weeks or months.

At a price of $299, Ray-Ban Meta Smart Glasses offer substantial value, continuously improving with each over-the-air update. For those interested in smart glasses, it's worth exploring options, as Ray-Ban remains a leading brand in this emerging market.
