Apple Releases iOS 18.3 With Critical Security Fixes

Apple Inc. has rolled out iOS 18.3, which includes fixes for 29 critical security vulnerabilities.

What Happened: This update addresses several security flaws, one of which is already being actively exploited in the wild.

The vulnerability, tracked as CVE-2025-24085, relates to a weakness in CoreMedia. This flaw could allow a harmful application to gain higher permissions within the device, which is a significant security risk.

Apple confirmed that this specific vulnerability may have already been utilized in attacks aimed at previous versions of iOS before iOS 17.2. For users with older devices, this makes the update extremely urgent.

Overview of Key Vulnerabilities Addressed

The update also resolves two serious Kernel issues that could permit malicious apps to gain root access or execute code at the Kernel level. These vulnerabilities are categorized as CVE-2025-24107, making their resolution critical.

Moreover, several WebKit vulnerabilities have been fixed. One WebKit issue could allow for command injection, while another could lead to unexpected crashes or unauthorized code execution. An AirPlay vulnerability has also been addressed in this update.

Additionally, a security flaw in Passkeys that allowed unauthorized Bluetooth connections through deceptive apps has been rectified.
