Apple's New $349 iPad: A Great Hardware Deal

Published March 4, 2025

Apple has launched the 11th generation of its standard iPad, and the price of $349 makes it hard to pass up. This new 11-inch iPad features a Retina Display, is powered by the A16 chip, and comes with a base storage capacity of 128GB.

Key Features That Are Missing

Two significant features that the new iPad lacks are Apple Intelligence and Face ID. Instead, this model continues to use Touch ID. With such an attractive price point, compromises have to be made.

The A16 chip in the new iPad brings a notable 30% boost in performance over the previous 10th-generation iPad's A14 Bionic chip, and it also boasts a 50% improvement compared to the A13 chip of the 9th generation. Users can expect all-day battery life, making it a reliable option for daily use.

Storage Options and Availability

In addition to the 128GB model, the new iPad is offered in 256GB and 512GB variants. The tablet comes in a palette of four colors: blue, pink, yellow, and silver. Users can opt for either Wi-Fi-only models or Wi-Fi + Cellular variants.

Pre-orders for the new iPad start today, March 4. Customers will be able to get their hands on the device starting on March 12 when it arrives in Apple Stores and ships to various regions including the US.

This refresh comes after the last update of the base iPad in 2022, meaning the new model was due for an upgrade. For those who prioritize features like Face ID and prefer Apple Intelligence capabilities, the iPad Pro or iPad Air may be more suitable options. However, if you have straightforward needs and are looking for an affordable tablet, the new iPad presents a compelling choice at this price.
