Samsung Electronics Unveils Extendable AI Innovation at CES 2025

LAS VEGAS, Jan. 6 -- At this year’s CES in Las Vegas, Samsung Electronics Co. revealed its plans to expand the reach of its "Home AI" innovations. The company aims to lead the artificial intelligence (AI) industry for the next century, moving beyond just smart home applications to cover various industries and societal needs.
During a press conference ahead of the official CES opening, Samsung introduced its vision for "Home AI." This concept combines advanced AI with improved connectivity to enhance everyday life significantly.
co-CEO and Vice Chairman Han Jong-hee expressed pride in Samsung's continuous introduction of new technologies for home use. He declared, "I am proud of how we have introduced new technologies to the home, connected essential devices, and set the standard for the future of home living." Han emphasized that this year, Samsung is working towards offering personalized experiences through extensive use of AI, with aspirations for the future extending beyond just the next ten years.
Expanding the SmartThings Platform
Han, who oversees the Device eXperience (DX) division that includes Samsung's TV and mobile operations, highlighted the importance of the SmartThings platform. This platform leverages AI to analyze users' habits and living environments, creating tailored solutions for seamless interactions between devices.
Samsung also announced partnerships with companies like Samsung Heavy Industries Co. and Hyundai Motor Group. These collaborations aim to implement SmartThings connectivity in maritime and automotive applications.
The SmartThings for Ships initiative enables crews to manage critical systems and enhance energy efficiency while monitoring for any operational anomalies. Additionally, the SmartThings for Cars solution allows users to locate their vehicles and control their in-car and home environments remotely.
Advanced Security and New Products
To protect its "Home AI" ecosystem, Samsung integrates its Knox Matrix technology into all appliances, TVs, and mobile devices. This security system employs blockchain technology to safeguard user data and protect devices from cyber threats.
During the event, Samsung showcased new products that reflect its "Home AI" vision. Among them were the Galaxy Book 5 Pro 360 laptop and the Bespoke AI Hybrid refrigerator. These products are designed to improve user experience through AI-powered functionalities.
Samsung also demonstrated its commitment to inclusivity with accessibility features, such as a "spoken subtitles" function that reads translated subtitles aloud. This initiative emphasizes the company’s dedication to using AI technology for societal betterment and future generations.
