Amazon's AI Tool Helps Shoppers Navigate Options
Amazon is making shopping more intuitive with a new feature called Interests, designed to help people find products that match their interests.
In a recent blog post, Amazon announced that Interests will analyze fresh inventory across the platform. It aims to simplify product searches by enabling users to create personalized queries in everyday language. For instance, if someone is looking for sports equipment, they can type in "The latest pickleball gear and accessories." Interests will then quickly search and provide recommendations for the newest pickleball paddles, balls, nets, and other gear from reputable sports brands. Similarly, a photographer seeking new equipment can enter a query like "The latest cameras and tripods for photographers,” and the AI will provide suggestions for the latest photography gear available.
In addition to finding products, the Interests tool will send users alerts about new and relevant items matching their interests, including restocks and special offers. To start using Interests, customers can access it by tapping on the Me tab in the Amazon app.
This new AI shopping assistant exemplifies Amazon's ongoing commitment to integrating more AI features into its platform. In the previous month, Amazon replaced its Inspire shopping feed with an AI chatbot named Rufus. This chatbot functions similarly to Interests but gathers additional information about the types of products users are interested in, whether for themselves or as gifts. Additionally, Amazon has introduced Alexa+, an upgraded version of its original voice assistant, which boasts enhanced conversational abilities and can better remember user preferences.
At present, the Interests feature is accessible on both the iOS and Android versions of the Amazon app, as well as on the mobile website. However, it is currently available only to a select group of users in the United States, with plans for a wider rollout in the coming months.
