Krutrim Becomes Record-Breaking Unicorn in AI Sector

Chennai: In a remarkable achievement within the tech start-up community, Krutrim, an Artificial Intelligence (AI) services company, has set a record by becoming the quickest to attain the status of a unicorn. This milestone makes it not only the premiere unicorn of 2024 but also positions it as the first AI firm to achieve such a valuation this year.

Groundbreaking Funding Fuels Krutrim's Unicorn Journey

Under the leadership of Bhavish Aggarwal, Krutrim SI Designs has successfully secured a $50 million investment from an array of investors, with prominent names like Matrix Partners India contributing. As a result, the company's valuation has skyrocketed to $1 billion. The speed at which Krutrim has reached this unicorn valuation since its inception in April of the previous year is unprecedented, as reported by Entrackr.

Following in the footsteps of last year's unicorns Zepto and InCred, Krutrim has distinguished itself as the third to join the elite club since January 2023. The company's commitment to leveraging the invested capital for driving innovation and expanding globally is clear, as it aims to be a game-changer in the AI domain.

Aggarwal’s Vision for Global Change Through AI

Bhavish Aggarwal expressed his excitement over this funding milestone, noting the investor's confidence in Krutrim’s revolutionary AI solutions and the potential impact these could have worldwide. In the previous year, the company had already raised $24 million in debt, indicating strong continuing investor trust.

Co-founded by Aggarwal along with Tenneti Venugopala Krishnamurthy, a veteran board member at Ola's parent company, ANI Technologies, Krutrim SI Designs presents two main products: Krutrim and Krutrim Pro. The standard Krutrim model is capable of understanding 22 Indian languages and can form responses in 10, catering to a diverse linguistic base. On the other hand, Krutrim Pro offers a multi-modal enterprise-grade model.

Krutrim marks the third unicorn founded by Aggarwal, who has previously achieved similar success with Ola and Ola Electric. Another notable entrepreneur, Supam Maheshari, shares this league of success with three unicorns to his name as well: FirstCry, GlobalBees, and XpressBees.
