Samsung and LG Showcase Cutting-Edge Screens and TVs at CES 2025
The CES 2025 tech trade show in Las Vegas has become a platform for Samsung Electronics and LG Electronics to highlight their latest screen technologies. Screens are being promoted as essential tools to showcase their visions for artificial intelligence (AI) integration.
Samsung's Vision AI Technology
Samsung kicked off CES 2025 with its "Samsung First Look 2025" event held at Caesars Palace. Yong Seok-woo, head of Samsung's Visual Display Business, emphasized that Samsung views TVs not just as devices for passive viewing but as interactive AI partners that tailor experiences based on user needs.
During the event, Samsung introduced Vision AI, which aims to enhance traditional TVs by making them smarter and more personalized. The technology can recognize a user’s preferences and intentions, offering a customized viewing experience. Features such as Click to Search allow users to obtain instant information about what they are watching, while Live Translate offers real-time translation options.
Vision AI connects with Samsung's SmartThings platform, allowing screens to inform users about their smart home environment. Samsung plans to collaborate with various global AI companies, starting with Microsoft, to enhance these services. The partnership has already resulted in the development of new smart TVs featuring Microsoft Copilot to further improve user interaction.
Innovations in Samsung's TV Range
Samsung also showcased its cutting-edge Neo QLED 8K QN990F TV, equipped with the latest AI technology aimed at enhancing visual and audio quality. Additionally, they unveiled a massive 115-inch Neo QLED model and 144-inch micro LED TVs.
Following the motto of "Screens Everywhere", Samsung introduced a range of AI-enabled home appliances with integrated screens, marking a shift to screens embedded in everyday devices. Lee Bo-na, Samsung's vice president of consumer experience, highlighted their belief that screen-equipped home appliances will set new standards in the AI era.
LG's OLED Innovations
At CES 2025, LG Electronics presented its 2025 OLED EVO TVs, known for their impressive brightness, reported to be three times that of regular OLED TVs. Their latest models received five CES 2025 Innovation awards, including the prestigious Best of Innovation award for the EVO G5.
The new TVs are powered by the webOS25 platform, which utilizes AI to deliver a personalized experience. The AI can analyze user habits and provide tailored recommendations by sifting through billions of picture and sound settings. Additionally, the TVs feature an AI button that recognizes the user instantly, enhancing interactivity.
LG is also expanding its wireless TV system, previously introduced with the first wireless OLED TV in July 2023, to include LCD and QNED models. This initiative aims to eliminate cable clutter, allowing users to enjoy their televisions with only a power cord visible.
The advancements highlighted by both Samsung and LG at CES 2025 indicate a strong future for the integration of AI in home entertainment, transforming passive viewing into interactive experiences.
