Google Releases New AI Model as ChatGPT Retains 43% Market Share

ChatGPT continues to lead the AI tools market with a remarkable 43% market share, while its nearest competitor, DeepSeek, holds a mere 6% share.

In a recent development, Google has launched Gemini 2.5, an experimental artificial intelligence model that has shown outstanding performance. It ranked second on a competitive leaderboard focused on AI-driven web development tools.

On March 25, Google announced the availability of Gemini 2.5 Pro for developers. This model is characterized as a thinking model, designed to reason through its responses.

Google claims that this feature enhances the model's accuracy and performance, particularly in the domains of coding, science, and math tasks. In addition, Gemini 2.5 is capable of supporting context-aware agents.

According to data from the AI benchmarking platform LMArena, the new AI model excelled in reasoning, knowledge, science, and mathematics, earning the title of Google’s “most intelligent AI model.”

Google’s New Model Ranks Second in Web Development Leaderboard

The Gemini 2.5 model secured a second-place position on LMArena’s WebDev leaderboard, which features a real-time AI coding competition showcasing various models tackling web development challenges.

With an arena score of 1267.70, Gemini 2.5 surpassed competitors such as DeepSeek, Grok, and ChatGPT. Despite this success, the top honor was claimed by Anthropic’s Claude 3.7 Sonnet, which achieved an impressive score of 1354.01.

ChatGPT Dominates the AI Tools Market

OpenAI’s ChatGPT remains the powerhouse of the AI tools market, as it recorded more than 40 billion visits in 2024, which translates to a market share of nearly 40%. According to data from aitools.xyz, the overall AI tools market saw around 101 billion visits throughout the year, with Canva’s AI generator coming in second place, attracting 10.4 billion visits, resulting in a 10.25% market share.

Recently, new players have emerged in the AI tools space. In February, reports indicated that DeepSeek gained traction, climbing to third place with a market share of 6.58%. Notably, DeepSeek was also recognized as the leader on the Trending list, reporting a remarkable growth rate of 195% and achieving around 792 million monthly visits.

Even with emerging competition, ChatGPT continues to secure its status at the forefront, with a notable 43% market share in February and a staggering 5.2 billion monthly visits.
