iPhone 15 Pro Owners to Receive Visual Intelligence Feature with iOS 18.4

Published March 3, 2025

The upcoming iOS 18.4 update will introduce the Apple Intelligence-powered Visual Intelligence feature for iPhone 15 Pro users.

The latest beta version of iOS 18.4, as reported by 9to5Mac, will deliver this innovative visual search capability, which has already been available on the new iPhone 16 models since the launch of iOS 18.2 in December.

There was some uncertainty regarding the inclusion of Visual Intelligence for iPhone 15 Pro users, especially since the iPhone 16 series features a unique Camera Control button that allows for quick access to the visual search function. However, with the introduction of the iPhone 16e and its Action Button, it became evident that iPhone 15 Pro owners would also have the opportunity to access the feature.

Reports indicate that Apple has confirmed to sources that the Visual Intelligence feature will indeed be available for iPhone 15 Pro models in an upcoming software update, likely in iOS 18.4, expected to arrive next month.

Similar to the iPhone 16e, users with the iPhone 15 Pro will have to customize their Action Button to launch Visual Intelligence. Once activated, users can direct the camera at a specific object and inquire about it using either ChatGPT or Google Search for further information.

The beta version also allows iPhone 16 range owners to configure the Action Button to trigger a Visual Intelligence search, which can also be accessed through a customizable tile in the Control Centre quick settings menu.

This feature allows users to perform various tasks: for instance, they can take a picture of a dog to identify its breed, capture an item’s photo to seek similar products online, or scan a poster to save all relevant details directly to their camera.

Nevertheless, some users have expressed mixed feelings about Visual Intelligence. One iPhone 16 Pro Max owner noted that while the feature is useful, it does not feel groundbreaking. They pointed out that identifying dog breeds has been possible for some time, and other tools, like Google Lens, already streamline the process of finding physical items online. Therefore, the user felt that the AI capabilities did not meet their expectations.

Despite some skepticism, the Visual Intelligence update is set to enhance the iPhone 15 Pro experience significantly by integrating smart search functionalities that can help users connect the physical world with digital information efficiently.
