Taylor Swift Makes History as Most Decorated Artist at Billboard Music Awards

Published December 13, 2024

Taylor Swift recently marked a historic moment at the Billboard Music Awards (BBMAs) as she became the most decorated artist of all time, right before her 35th birthday.

Heading into the Thursday night event, the talented singer-songwriter was tied with rapper Drake, with each having 39 awards. However, this year's ceremony saw Swift take the lead, bolstered by 17 nominations across 16 different categories.

Upon receiving her awards, Swift expressed her gratitude, saying, "This is like the nicest, early birthday present you could have given me, so thank you very much," before affectionately kissing one of the golden microphones she was awarded.

In total, Swift claimed 10 BBMAs for her outstanding work in 2024, which included prestigious titles such as:

  • Top Artist

  • Top Female Artist

  • Top Billboard 200 Artist

  • Top Hot 100 Artist

  • Top Hot 100 Songwriter

  • Top Streaming Songs Artist

  • Top Radio Songs Artist

  • Top Billboard Global 200 Artist

  • Top Billboard Global (excluding U.S.) Artist

  • Top Billboard 200 Album for "The Tortured Poets Department"

Swift noted, "Thank you to the Billboard awards. Thank you to the fans, because Billboard is counting your stuff. They're counting what you're listening to, the albums that you're passionate about. So I count these as fan-voted awards, because you guys are the ones who care about our albums and come see us in concert."

With this latest achievement, Swift's career total now stands at an impressive 49 wins. Despite her success, she was nominated in several categories where she did not win, including: Top Hot 100 Producer, Top Song Sales Artist, and Top Collaboration.

The singer, known for her influential Eras Tour, chose not to attend the pre-recorded BBMAs, having just concluded her record-breaking tour in Vancouver, which grossed over $2 billion and attracted over 10 million fans.

On the same day as the awards, she surprised patients at a local Children's Mercy Hospital in Kansas City by visiting them, taking photos, and signing her books.

During her hospital visit, a young boy made a cheerful comment about NFL player Travis Kelce, and Swift responded positively, showing her playful side.
