List of iPhones That Work with Apple’s iOS 18.2 Update and AI Features

Published December 13, 2024

Apple has just rolled out its latest update, iOS 18.2, which includes exciting new AI features. However, these features will not be available on all iPhone models.

The iPhone 16 was released in September and came with iOS 18.2 pre-installed. Nonetheless, the new AI features were introduced the following month.

If you own an iPhone XS or newer, you're eligible to download iOS 18.2. But only the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and iPhone 16 models can access the new AI functionalities.

Among the AI features, users can find Image Playground, Genmoji, and Visual Intelligence.

Overview of New AI Features in iOS 18.2

Image Playground allows users to generate digital artwork based on prompts, descriptions, or existing images. Genmoji enables users to create custom emojis either by describing them or using existing photos.

The Visual Intelligence feature is exclusive to the iPhone 16 series. It lets users point their camera at any object and retrieve information using ChatGPT.

If your iPhone is not compatible with the new AI features, you will still be able to take advantage of the updated phone call recorder, which now transcribes conversations directly into the notes app.
