TuSimple Rebrands as CreateAI, Showcases Innovations in Generative AI

Published December 19, 2024

TuSimple Holdings Inc. has officially rebranded as CreateAI, marking a new direction in its business strategy. This change highlights the company’s commitment to enhancing the animation and video game sectors using proprietary artificial intelligence technologies and a comprehensive content development platform.

CreateAI has made significant strides in generative AI with the launch of its first major AI model, known as "Ruyi". This model, which is available for free on the AI community platform Hugging Face, is designed to maintain frame consistency, motion fluency, and high-quality color and composition. By adopting an open-source approach, CreateAI aims to empower creators and cultivate a dynamic ecosystem for users. Developed in less than six months, Ruyi utilizes advanced technology grounded in the company's background in autonomous driving and sets the stage for tailored AI tools aimed specifically at video game and anime development.

Since entering the digital entertainment arena in August 2024, CreateAI has progressed rapidly, recently announcing an ambitious project: a AAA Open-World Role-Playing Game based on Louis Cha's renowned intellectual property, "Heroes of Jin Yong". This game represents a major leap forward from earlier adaptations, as it combines characters and stories from all of Cha's impactful literary works into a unified universe. This initiative aims to create a cohesive narrative experience rather than isolated tales, laying the groundwork for future original martial arts content. A preview event held on December 14 in Guangzhou, China, attracted significant interest, positioning the game as one of the most anticipated releases in the AAA gaming space.

Cheng Lu, President and CEO of CreateAI, expressed pride in the company’s accomplishments in such a brief period. He stated, "Our integrated approach at the crossroads of generative AI and digital entertainment creation sets us apart and creates substantial long-term growth opportunities."

Moreover, CreateAI is advancing its previously announced project based on "The Three-Body Problem." The company is collaborating with renowned Japanese anime designer Shōji Kawamori, famed for his work on "Macross," to bring this expansive fantasy world to life through a visually rich animated feature and companion video game.

CreateAI has also launched a comprehensive business plan detailing the significant commercial potential arising from its recent transformations and the overall market for its industry. This plan addresses the historical challenges faced by the industry, outlines technological milestones, and maps out routes to commercialization. Additionally, it highlights how the company’s integrated strategy is poised to create a flywheel effect in AI development, ultimately ensuring a sustainable competitive edge.
