Nvidia Bolsters Autonomous Driving Team in China Amid Rising Demand
Nvidia, the leading artificial intelligence company from the United States, is currently on the lookout for skilled scientists and engineers to strengthen its autonomous driving team based in China. This recruitment effort was brought to light through a job posting on the popular Chinese social media platform, WeChat. This announcement was made public on Tuesday, signaling Nvidia's intent to tap into the burgeoning market for autonomous and assisted driving technologies within the country.
An Expansion Driven by Demand
The decision to expand its workforce in China is a strategic move by Nvidia, as the company seeks to meet the escalating demand for smart driving solutions. By focusing on hiring experts in areas such as sensor fusion and motion planning, Nvidia aims to build a robust team capable of advancing their autonomous driving technologies. These job openings are spread across major Chinese cities including Beijing, Shanghai, and Shenzhen, where Nvidia is known to collaborate with prominent automotive clients like Mercedes-Benz and Jaguar Land Rover.
Loading Up on Local Talent
Earlier in August, Nvidia strengthened its leadership by hiring Wu Xinzhou, previously the vice president at Xpeng Motors, to oversee its automotive business operations. Wu has expressed confidence in the local team's potential to serve as a cornerstone in engineering breakthroughs for Nvidia's self-driving car projects. With China experiencing rapid growth in the adoption of driver assistance technologies, other major players like BYD have also been actively seeking engineering talent, while tech corporations such as Huawei have begun venturing into the autonomous vehicle space. Huawei recently reported that their high-end models of the Aito M7 crossover, which include the company’s Advanced Driving System, have constituted 60% of total orders since they were introduced in September.
