Hyundai Mobis Introduces Innovative Holographic Windshield Technology at CES 2025
SEOUL, Jan. 9 -- Hyundai Mobis Co., the auto parts arm of South Korea's Hyundai Motor Group, has unveiled a revolutionary holographic windshield display technology during the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2025, which took place in Las Vegas.
This cutting-edge technology has been exclusively integrated into the Kia EV9 electric vehicle, converting the traditional front windshield into a transparent display. This innovative feature does not require any additional display devices, allowing for a seamless integration into the vehicle design.
Crucial driving information such as navigation, music playlists, and driving data is projected directly onto the lower area of the windshield. This design enhances the user experience by making information more accessible and interactive while driving.
The holographic display technology was developed in conjunction with the German optical company Zeiss. It employs a specialized film embedded with a holographic optical element, which utilizes the principles of light diffraction to project images and videos directly to the driver's eyes.
Even though this remarkable technology is not yet ready for mass production, Hyundai Mobis and Zeiss are aiming to finalize the predevelopment phase by mid-2026. They have set their sights on launching the product onto the market by 2027.
By integrating such advanced display technology into vehicles, Hyundai Mobis is paving the way for a more intuitive and engaging driving experience as the automotive industry continues to evolve.
