SingularityNET and DFINITY Collaborate to Fuse AI with Blockchain Technology

Published November 20, 2023

SingularityNET, an innovative platform for marketing AI models, has teamed up with DFINITY Foundation to pioneer a groundbreaking integration of AI tools and smart contracts on the blockchain. This partnership aims to foster the development of trustworthy and inviolable large language AI models within the decentralized landscape.

Strategic Alliance for DeAI Advancement

On a notable Monday announcement, it was revealed that Internet Computer (ICP), DFINITY's blockchain, will be harnessed by SingularityNET to run AI models directly in smart contracts. This collaboration promises to enrich AI services with enhanced reliability and transparency, courtesy of SingularityNET's reputation-based governance.

Dominic Williams, the founder of DFINITY, emphasized that this union is meant to culminate in a DeAI network that excels in scalability, security, and cross-platform integration. SingularityNET's reputation system, which allocates ratings to AI services based on performance and community feedback, is pivotal to achieving a network of decentralized applications that are both beneficial and trustworthy.

The focus, according to Williams, is on the integrity of the decentralized AI network, where the Quality of Service takes precedence over computational power or token ownership. Integrating these protocols ensures that AI models on the Internet Computer remain responsible and ethical.

The Evolution of AI on Blockchain

Despite the surge in AI's popularity, driven by advancements like OpenAI's ChatGPT, integrating autonomous agents on blockchains has been explored since the mid-2010s. SingularityNET, spearheaded by Dr. Ben Goertzel, has been at the forefront, offering a decentralized marketplace for AI technologies.

Since its inception in 2021, the ICP blockchain has aimed to seamlessly accommodate software and online services, distinguishing itself with the capacity to handle 11,500 transactions per second—ideal for complex AI integration. According to Williams, ICP is uniquely capable of hosting complete large language models within its smart contract framework, an attribute that could transform AI and blockchain synergy.

Highlighting the significance of transparent training data in AI tools, Williams points out the guarantee of data privacy and security offered by the Internet Computer blockchain. This approach ensures verifiability and a high degree of security in AI applications.

The optimism surrounding decentralized AI is shared by both DFINITY and SingularityNET, as they look forward to furthering their collaborative efforts. The merging of their Deep Funding and Developer Grant programs is a testament to their shared vision for the future of DeAI.
