Canadian Actress Jasmine Mooney Details ICE Detention Experience
Jasmine Mooney, a 35-year-old Canadian actress known for her roles in American Pie Presents: The Book of Love and Loudermilk, is back home after a distressing 12-day detention by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE).
Mooney was detained at the San Ysidro crossing on the U.S.-Mexico border on March 3 while trying to renew her work visa. During her time in custody, she described her conditions as "inhumane" and psychologically challenging.
She recounted how she had to sleep on a thin mat without a blanket or pillow, stating that the lack of comfort contributed to her discomfort. In addition, she expressed frustration over the inadequate food provided by ICE.
Reflecting on her experience, Mooney shared her regret about attempting to enter the U.S. with a visa application that was still incomplete, emphasizing that she would have thought twice had she known the severe ramifications.
ICE confirmed her detention, which was in line with policies set forth under the previous administration's executive orders aimed at tightening border security.
