Elon Musk Announces Launch of Grok 3 Chatbot
Elon Musk has announced that his startup, xAI, is set to unveil its Grok 3 chatbot this coming Monday, labeling it as the "smartest AI on Earth" in a highly competitive landscape.
The official launch will take place during a demonstration at 8 p.m. Pacific Time on Monday, as Musk shared on his social media platform, X.
Grok 3 has been developed using synthetic data, which allows it to analyze and learn from its mistakes by reviewing previous information to ensure logical accuracy.
Musk mentioned on Saturday, "Will be honing product with the team all weekend, so offline until then." As one of the richest individuals globally and a key advisor to former President Donald Trump, he is also known for advocating budget cuts in government spending.
Last week, Musk indicated that Grok 3 was nearing completion and would soon be ready for public use.
In a market flooded with AI offerings, including notable models like OpenAI's ChatGPT, xAI aims to secure its place within the industry.
Recently, the Chinese startup DeepSeek entered the scene with a low-cost yet high-performing chatbot, posing a significant challenge to U.S. companies striving for dominance in AI development. DeepSeek remarkably surpassed ChatGPT in download numbers on the Apple App Store shortly after its launch.
While Musk has consistently voiced concerns about the potential dangers of AI to humanity, he is actively pushing for increased investment in the sector.
xAI previously announced its successful $6 billion funding round in December, attracting investments from U.S. venture firms, chip manufacturers like Nvidia and AMD, as well as funds from Saudi Arabia and Qatar. This followed an earlier funding raise of $6 billion in May.
As it stands, xAI is now recognized as one of the world's most valuable startups, but it remains smaller in scale compared to giants like OpenAI.
In July 2023, Musk launched xAI shortly after signing an open letter that called for a pause in the rapid advancement of powerful AI technologies.
Recently, the board chairman of OpenAI announced that they have unanimously turned down an acquisition offer led by Musk, which was valued at $97.4 billion.
