Apple Unveils 11th-Generation iPad with Key Upgrades

Published March 4, 2025

For the first time in over two years, Apple has released a new base-model iPad. The newly announced 11th-generation iPad comes equipped with significant upgrades, including the advanced A16 chip and increased storage capacity, which is now doubled at 128GB for the starting model.

The price of the new iPad starts at $349 and will be available starting March 12th in several vibrant colors, including blue, pink, yellow, and silver.

This 11th-generation model stands apart as it does not include the Apple Intelligence features that are found in other recent iPad products. Notably, the newly introduced iPad Air, along with the existing iPad Mini and iPad Pro models, all support AI-powered functionalities.

The preceding model, the 10th-generation iPad, launched in 2022, presented a somewhat confusing choice for consumers. It featured a modern design, an upgraded chip, and a larger display than its predecessor, the 9th-generation iPad. However, it came with a higher price tag of $449. To complicate matters, Apple continued to sell the 9th-generation model at the basic price of $329, leading to confusion regarding which model qualified as the entry-level iPad.

Since the launch of the 10th-generation model, there have been updates to the iPad Pro, Air, and Mini, which left the base model feeling somewhat outdated. The only adjustment Apple made was a price reduction to $349.

Despite the ongoing confusion in the iPad lineup, the positive takeaway is that all iPad models maintain Appleā€™s reputation for quality. Even with minor upgrades, the base iPad is expected to remain a solid choice for most users.
