Sony-Honda Venture Unveils Afeela EV Starting at $89,900 in the U.S.

Sony Group Corp announced that its joint venture with Honda Motor Co, Sony Honda Mobility Inc, has initiated preorders for the new Afeela brand electric vehicle in the United States. The Afeela EV is priced starting from $89,900, and deliveries are expected to commence in 2026.

This new four-door sedan features a customizable digital display panel positioned between the headlights, along with numerous sensors designed to enhance safety and prevent accidents. Currently, residents of California can make online reservations for this innovative vehicle.

The launch of the Afeela brand was revealed during a media event ahead of CES 2025, one of the largest technology trade shows, formerly known as the Consumer Electronics Show, which kicks off in Las Vegas on Tuesday.

Yasuhide Mizuno, CEO of the Tokyo-based venture, stated, "We will meet our customers' expectations by providing a safe, secure, and comfortable travel experience." This emphasizes the commitment of the Afeela brand to prioritize customer satisfaction and vehicle safety.

The Afeela 1 electric vehicle also integrates advanced interactive services that leverage generative artificial intelligence, developed through a collaboration with U.S. tech giant Microsoft Corp. This technology permits drivers to control various in-car functions using voice commands and offers personalized suggestions for activities, enhancing the overall user experience.
