Tesla's Ambitious Plan for 5,000 Optimus Robots by 2025

Tesla has set an impressive goal to manufacture 5,000 human-like Optimus robots by the end of 2025. This announcement was made by CEO Elon Musk during a live stream of a meeting with Tesla employees.

Musk mentioned that the first production line will be quite large, comparable in size to a Roman legion. He noted that while Tesla has the potential to produce up to 12,000 robots, they are comfortable aiming for the 5,000 mark. He emphasized that this product represents a completely new venture for the company, asserting that achieving even half of the production target would be a remarkable milestone.

The CEO referred to the Optimus robot as “probably the best product of all time.” Work on the robot began in 2021, with an actor initially helping to bring its persona to life. A prototype was showcased the following year, sparking excitement about its capabilities.

Tesla's ambitions extend beyond automotive advancements; they aim to redefine public perception of robotic technology. Musk's track record includes pioneering initiatives such as revolutionizing electric vehicles, commercial space travel, and global broadband delivery through a satellite network. Next year, the company plans to launch robotaxis—dubbed Cybercabs—that can be hailed directly from the street, showcasing a shift towards accessibility.
