Google Gemini AI to Integrate Real-Time AP News for Enterprise Users
On Wednesday, Google officially announced a new partnership with the Associated Press (AP) to provide a real-time news feed for its Gemini AI. While specifics on the project are still limited, it seems poised to offer functionalities similar to AI services like Perplexity or ChatGPT Search. Currently, there is no confirmation on the timeline for when this news feed will become available for users.
Jaffer Zaidi, Google’s Vice President of Global News Partnerships, stated in the announcement, "As we develop new AI offerings and products, we’re identifying specific types of information and data that can help improve our products and services for people everywhere. This new feed will be particularly helpful to users looking for up-to-date information." This enhancement aims to provide timely news and enrich the user experience in the Gemini AI environment.
The new capabilities of Gemini will also soon be accessible to Google Workspace business and enterprise subscribers without extra costs, as recently affirmed by Google. For users within these subscription tiers, the new Gemini features are expected to start rolling out immediately, with enterprise users set to gain access in January. This integration will allow employees to fully utilize Gemini AI within the Google Workspace app ecosystem, making it easier to draft emails in Gmail, generate graphs in Sheets, create content in Slides, and serve as a digital stenographer during conference calls in Meet. Essentially, these functions are tailored for corporate users while ensuring enterprise-level data protection.
In addition to these features, Google has also unveiled changes to its pricing structure, promising potential savings for subscribers. For instance, users on the Workspace Business Standard plan who add Gemini to their package will see their monthly price decrease from $32 to $14 per user, which is only $2 more than what they previously paid for Workspace without Gemini.
Furthermore, Google introduced Gemini 2.0, the latest iteration of its AI model, which includes new capabilities such as native image and audio output. This model is now available to all subscription tiers, including free users, and will start enhancing AI features across Google's ecosystem in the coming months. Even though this release is essentially a smaller, experimental version of the final product, it sets the stage for future upgrades in the Gemini line.
The evolution of Google’s Gemini AI is part of its larger strategy to use advanced technology to provide users with improved access to accurate and timely news data, reinforcing its commitment to enhancing information delivery through AI systems.
