Nokia Introduces MX Workmate with Gen AI for Enhanced Operational Technology

Published February 14, 2024

In a significant development for industrial operational technology (OT), Nokia Corporation has announced the launch of its MX Workmate, a new OT-compliant Gen AI solution designed to assist connected workers. This innovative tool suite marks a step forward in the interaction between industrial workers and machines.

Addressing Skilled Labor Shortage

The company acknowledges the global shortage of skilled labor in the industry. By introducing the Nokia MX Workmate, it aims to tackle this issue by employing GenAI LLM technology tailored to OT environments, which is supported by the Nokia OT-compliant on-premise edge compute solution known as MX Industrial Edge (MXIE).

Technological Innovations and Integration

Nokia’s new solution incorporates several cutting-edge features including the elimination of 'AI hallucination' through the use of parallel LLMs. It also offers APIs for seamless communication with applications that handle OT data.

Moreover, using Nokia Team Comms, industrial workers can interact with the assistant to receive contextual information in real-time, conveyed in natural human language for ease of understanding.

Enhancing Efficiency and Productivity

The MX Workmate is more than just a communicative tool; it also integrates AI auditing capabilities providing real-time insights and analytics to optimize workflows and prevent expensive mistakes. With this new technology, Stephan Litjens, Vice President of Enterprise Solutions at Nokia, anticipates a transformation in OT environments. This will potentially lead to an improvement in team skills, efficiency, and the full integration of IT/OT operations across industries.

On the stock market, Nokia shares are notably responding to this innovation, with a slight increase in value.
