CES 2025: Samsung Unveils New 9-Inch Appliance Screen

Published December 19, 2024

Samsung is making significant strides toward its vision of having "screens everywhere" by integrating its advanced display technology into more home appliances. The company recently announced the launch of a refrigerator featuring a new 9-inch AI Home screen, as well as a 7-inch AI Home screen for its wall oven. This initiative indicates Samsung's commitment to enhancing user interaction in everyday kitchen tasks.

The newly introduced 9-inch screen serves as a more compact alternative to the larger 21.5-inch and 32-inch Family Hubs available in some of Samsung's refrigerators. This option caters to consumers who prefer smaller screens without sacrificing functionality.

In addition to refrigerators, Samsung is also upgrading its laundry appliances. The 7-inch AI Home screen, which is already integrated into the Bespoke AI Laundry Combo, will now be featured in their latest Bespoke AI Washer and Dryer set. This expansion aims to provide consumers with more choices and enhance the overall usability of Samsung's home appliances.

These exciting new products are being showcased by Samsung at CES 2025, taking place in Las Vegas from January 7 to January 10. The event is expected to attract significant attention, and media outlets are already preparing to cover key developments.

Samsung’s Vision for Smart Homes

Jeong Seung Moon, the Executive Vice President and Head of the R&D Team for Digital Appliances Business at Samsung Electronics, stated, “We have been leading the development of screen appliances to elevate our consumers’ experiences with innovative features and functionalities.” This statement emphasizes Samsung's dedication to pushing the boundaries of technology in consumer electronics.

Samsung’s goal is to improve usability while contributing to the creation of a smart, interconnected home environment. The integration of voice control via Bixby allows users to easily access vital information about their appliances, such as internal temperatures and washing cycle statuses, presented in an intuitive and user-friendly manner.

Map View Feature Enhancements

A key feature of the new screens is the updated Map View, which acts as a central control hub. This functionality enables users to monitor and manage all their connected appliances from one screen. With the new capabilities, users can select different modes for their devices, like air conditioners and robot vacuums, directly from the home screen, offering seamless connectivity and convenience.

As Samsung continues to innovate, the introduction of these new appliance screens marks a significant step toward realizing their vision of a fully integrated smart home system.
